VXA was founding in 2014 out of necessity when founder Paul Reynolds, a retired Green Beret realized how impactful recreational therapy could be for Veterans who were receiving TBI treatment at the Carrick Brain center in Dallas.
The group began just as a couple of veterans taking those attending Carrick out on the weekend to go “hog dogging”. They would use catch dogs to track down and kill feral hogs in rural areas around DFW. The veterans saw incredible growth through these adventures, allowing many of them to come out of their shell for the first time since returning home from Combat.
In 2017 VXA leadership changed when Paul returned home to Kentucky. New board members were not experienced with dog hunting, and instead shifted the focus to another form of exhilarating hunting with thermal scopes, and night vision.
Today the VXA mission continues to serve the veterans of DFW with a variety of hunting, fishing, and outdoors adventures.
